- Site responsiveness is greatly increased and server load has decreased by some
measures taken by the hosting company and myself.
- Server load can be monitored at the server load page.
- Updates of files are correctly advertised to the file mirrors ;)
- Downloads are correctly sending the size header to the client.
- Evolutionrts.info live mirror added. This brings the number of auto updated mirrors to 4.
- No more waiting for download link if there are no secondary download locations available.

Site down for 6 hours
Message at website hosting provider:
"The server "Prime" was overloaded and was unfortunately not be reached so a reboot was necessary. We will directly examine the server when it restarts."
Result of their examination: Springfiles is eating all the Apache processes, so let's shut it down!
I made a phone call with the hosting provider... Summary of the conversation:
"Apologize for shutting down the site, we also love open-source games like Spring,
so we will put it back online, it will be running again in 2 minutes!" :O

Extra Bandwidth & Diskspace :)
Buyed 10GB extra space for this site and 100GB extra bandwidth per month.
Because of the high traffic in the last period, 200GB / Month isn't enough anymore. 300GB will fit better for the Spring community ;)

It wasnt possible to download files with special chars in the filename. This issue is solved for the jobjol download link. Mirrorlinks still need a fix. Tip from NTG: use the zip-download thing when this will happen again. jj

Development
I dont have time to develop this site any further, i dont have time to play spring anyways. Work, new girlfriend, kitesurfing... it takes enough time and there is not much spare time left.

Intruder / site down
Someone has found a way to get write-access to the source files and injected some weird code in a lot of the sites code files. As a result the site was down for almost the whole day and maybe even now there can be some functionality missing. I will do some extended research on this. If you got more information, mail me. jj

Captcha
Captcha codes are added in the comments system.
Springfiles was flooded with spam messages, now it is almost impossible to spam jobjol with bots.

URL upload
A feature request, URL uploading is now possible.
It doesnt matter if the url points to a php download script. All url's are accepted.
Since Iamacup tries to work against me, uploading files from unknown-files wont work right. jj

No more mirrors
The ISP of jobjol has added a lot of security updates, for example a big firewall for the webservers.
As a result, it isnt possible anymore to check mirror servers for files.

REAL mirror system
I have launched a real mirror system, files uploaded to this site are instantly spreaded across mirror servers.
Currently the mirrors vsync.de, darkstars.co.uk and my home server are clients of this mirror system. Many thanks to AF and Very_Bad_Soldier.

stats
The popularity tab and stats page is working 100%.
days/months/weeks stats are displayed correctly, as it was before, but now the script is 10 times faster. jj

no more deeplinking
Its not possible to use direct links to the files from external sites/lobby anymore.
This is to prevent bypassing the delaytime when monthly bandwidth usage is expected to be more then 100%

technical trouble
The hosting provider is updating the servers with a new os and webserver software.
As a side-effect the user sessions are not saved anymore in some cases and it isnt possible to login.
I hope this issue will get fixed today. jj FIXED!

Faster mirror file checking
I've added a very strict mirror file checking policy.
Mirrors got no more time then 200ms to open up a http connection and no more then 350ms to give file availability information.

The site-logo is now a random image.
You'll see a new logo everytime you make a new visit to the site.
If you think you are creative, you may want to design a new logo!
Use this image as background and set the image height to 53px.
You can upload yours to the 'other' map. jj

and a rounded border is added with auto-color.

spam
It seems someone found a way to spam the text CA 574 times in the download log, just by downloading a non-existing file named CA.
Now the message will be "File doesnt exists"
Also downloading files with a size of 0 bytes wont be logged/downloaded.

Bandwidth throttling
Since it takes some time to check mirrors for file availability, The mirror file links show up several seconds after the jobjol file link.
Because of that almost everyone is using the jobjol download link.
To prevent that the monthly traffic will exceed the monthly bandwidth cap of 200GB, a dynamic delaytime for the jobjol link is introduced.
The delaytime is calculated with the estimated bandwidth usage for the whole month. This delaytime is 1 second for every percent above 95%.
For example: if the estimated bandwidth usage is 100%(200GB), the delaytime will be 5 secs.

Speeding things up
Im writing better code to give this site more performance.
For example: lots of data was stored in arrays, and PHP is not very fast in processing great amounts of data. Also some SQL queries are not very well thought of. Currently im creating smarter SQL queries, resulting in faster php data handling and a smaller amount of MySQL queries.
Expect a 10 times faster website, but also expect some error messages in the meantime. jj

Now the text is dynamic and will show up in your language.
You dont have to type your username/email/website again if you are already logged in.

1001 Downloads!!
SpringFiles is now hosting 1001 files exclusively for the open-source RTS engine Spring.
These 1001 files are 10 Gigabytes of high quality material.
Some are older files, but also a lot of new outstanding creative creations where added in the last few months.

Compressed archives
Uncompressed size of rar files now calculated and listed. Same for zip files. Zipped files got a new tab, the compressed files are listed there.

Your virtual backup service
Its now possible to add files to your personal favorites list. You can find it under the bookmarks tab at the file pages. This feature is very handy in case of a fresh os install for example, because you can download all your favorite items at once.
